Meet the Inventor

As an experienced dairy technologist and processed cheese factory manager, it became apparent to Robert ‘Bob’ Smith that cooking systems available to food manufacturers were inadequate for a variety of design, mechanical and operational reasons. In response to this, Bob built the first RotaTherm® Continuous Cooker in his family garage in Melbourne, Australia. It was successfully trialed at Murray Goulburn Co-operative’s Cobram plant in 1988. So successful was the trial that Bob decided to establish Gold Peg International Pty Ltd and begin commercial production of his continuous cooking systems.

It wasn’t long before GoldPeg was distributing RotaTherm® equipment to food manufacturing plants throughout the world. A great part of GoldPeg’s success has been due to the fact that Bob is a food technologist and factory manager – with very solid operational expertise in food production.

Today the RotaTherm® Continuous Cooker continues to be the most sophisticated and technologically advanced direct steam injection continuous cooker in the world and is available in a range of models for a wide variety of food applications. It is a credit to Robert Smith’s foresight that GoldPeg is now an international manufacturing force in food production equipment.
